President Museveni has been behind the campaign to name Nyerere a saint

The Pope (Rome) accepted to name Nyerere a Saint. The request to name him a saint was first initiated by Bishop Musoma of Northern Tanzania Diocese and backed by President Museveni. Late Nyerere is going to be the first former politician in East Africa to be named a Saint.

The theme for this year’s martyrs Day celebrations is “I am with you always, yes to the end of the time.” The theme has been derived from Mathew 28:20.
