St Julian beats 12 to win Uganda Secondary MDD School's competition


St Julian High School, Gayaza has beaten other beaten 12 other schools to scoop the 2010 National Secondary Schools Music, Dance and Drama Competitions that took place at Kitante Primary School and the National Theatre for two days.

The Schools that participated in the competition include St Julian High School plus Buddo Secondary School, Bweranyangi Girls School, Iganga High School, Kabale Trinity College, Kyezoba Girls School, Kigezi Cleveland, Iganga Parents School, Greenfields, Bishop Mac Secondary School, Jinja Secondary School and Kaliro High School in order of the respective positions they held at the competition.

The Choir of St Julian High that was led by Eve Kiggundu as its tutor scooped 754 points to become the best school overall. However the Buddo SSS survived narrowly to become the first runners up of the competition as they scooped 744 points just a point ahead of the second runners up Bweranyangi Girls School.

Kaliro that was the thirteenth out of the 13 schools that participated on only managed to get 517 points overall.

St Julian High School beat the other schools in the categories of the play, original composition, folk song, folk dance and poem and western chorals and only failed to win in the Speech, Instrumental and Sight Singing categories.

Every year the Ministry of Education organises national competition in Music, Dance and Drama though the competitions had encountered problems and were not held last year.
