Somalis fleeing hunger, diseases and poverty pour into neighbouring Kenya and Uganda

Somalis fleeing serial killers in Mogadishu, insurgency, hunger, diseases and poor living conditions in Somalia are pouring into neighbouring Kenya where they later cross into Uganda at an average of 6000 per month. The entrance of refugees from Somalia is swelling what is already the world’s refugee population.

Thirteen years of civil conflict in Somalia show no signs of ending after the foreign troops keeping law and order in Somalia got intelligence information last month that foreign jihadists are still joining local Al Shabaab fighters seeking to topple the Somali government backed by Americans, British and their allies Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Burundi among others.

The new Somali government backed by Europeans and Americans is the 17th attempt to restore central rule in Somalia since 1991. About one million people have died in the political unrest in Somalia while million Somalis are still refugees in their own country.
