Rugunda sounds a warning over pillars of democracy

The chairman National Consultative Forum for Political parties in Uganda Ruhakana Rugunda highlights the need for all political parties and players in the country to uphold democracy, key in building a stronger nation.

Rugunda says democracy can be deepened in the country by respecting people’s rights and freedoms and sharing the belief of building a democratic state , irrespective of one’s political affiliation.

He says government is continuing with this process pointing out key achievements by the NRM which include scrapping of the crude elections of lining behind candidates giving way for the introduction of secret ballots and the recent intuitive of national ID cards which will rule out a possibility of ghost voters.

Rugunda also notes that political parties should first resolve internal bickering within the parties before clamoring for it from government.
