Apply for master Scholarships in Social Protection Financing in Mauritius university.

The University of Mauritius Trust, in partnership with IDRC, is offering a Master of Science in Social Protection Financing.

This intensive one-year degree program is designed to equip social security managers and financial specialists to meet the challenges of financing national social protection programs.

The University of Mauritius (UoM) will award a number of scholarships to successful applicants.

The  MSc Scholarships in Social Protection Financing cover travel, tuition, living expenses and medical coverage during the duration of the program, which begins in August.

Eligibility: The scholarships are only open to students from a sub-Saharan African country.

Priority for admission will be given to serving officials from African social security institutions and ministries (managers, actuaries, financial and policy analysts), and from organizations representing African workers and employers. Applicants outside the continent and with other professional and institutional backgrounds will also be considered.

These awards will support 32 full-time master’s students in the social protection financing program at the University of Mauritius, contributing to building capacity in the field of social protection and well-being in sub-Saharan Africa.

Two competitions will be held each year. The focus is on research areas that respond to IDRC’s supporting inclusive growth theme, especially in the area of social protection and its links to the informal sector. Student training is expected to include research proposal writing and training in methodologies.

Deadline for applications: April 30.
