Residents in Rakai protest move by government to give land to Tanzania returnees.

Residents of Kyaka in the western district of Kyegegwa are up in arms with tension mounting as government moves in to distribute chunks of land to Ugandan returnees from Tanzania.
The move follows government plans to resettle Ugandans who were earlier this year expelled  from Tanzania which made them  land less and temporally settled at Sango bay in Rakai district.
The land measuring approximately 34 square miles was initially government land occupied by Rwandese refugees who later relocated to Rwanda in 1994.

State minister for relief and disaster preparedness, Musa Echweru, says the government will not evict any squatters on the land but will distribute it among the Ugandans who have returned from Tanzania and the residents of Kyaka in Kyegegwa.
