Museveni to give 100m to Kadongo Kamu artists

The Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) a government program on commercialization of agriculture is to honor Kadongo Kamu artists in Uganda for promoting the sector through music.

Addressing journalists at the media centre the deputy chief coordinator of Operation Wealth creation Lt Gen Charles Angina said a 100M shillings will be awarded to 25 artists in a cash prize grand finale on December 16that the Kololo independence grounds.

The money will be paid solely by the president Museveni to the top four artists who will be voted through an sms platform and also a panel of judges from the Makerere University School of music, dance and drama.

Some of the Kadongo Kamu artists that have made the cut for the grand finale include among others Mariam Namubiru, Billy Katumba,Willy Mukabya, Mathias Walukaga, Fred Sebatta, and Birungi Scovia.

The idea of promoting agriculture through music competitions was started by the operation chief coordinator Gen Caleb Akandwanaho Saleh with an aim of changing the mindset of the farmers through educative music.
