Police have arrested over 10 drivers on allegations of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The suspects are being detained at Katwe police station in Kampala on offence of driving while under the influence of drugs contrary to section 46 (1) (A) and III of the Road and Traffic safety act.

The suspects include Rogers Mugerwa, James Katende and Ronald Muweesi among others.

The spokesperson of police for Kampala Metropolitan Region, Henry Kalulu says police have impounded the suspects’ cars as exhibits.

He urges drivers to adhere to the traffic and road safety laws to avoid arrest.

If the suspects are convicted in court they will either pay a fine between 100,000 shillings and 1.2 million shillings or imprisonment for not less than six months or both.
