African swine fever has hit some parts of Luweero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola districts. The LCV chairperson of Luweero, Prince Ronald Ndawula says the district has registered over 10 cases of swine fever.

He says they have informed the Ministry of Agriculture in Kampala to send experts to study this outbreak of swine fever.

Swine fever attacks pigs and is caused by a virus called African swine fever. Ndawula says the affected districts are making sure that it doesn’t spread.

Scientists say the virus is mostly carried by wild pigs. The symptoms include fever and discharge from the eyes. The African swine fever can also be spread through feeding pigs with contaminated food.
