The fifth edition of the Makerere handball open championship kicked off at the University’s main sports ground today morning.

The two-day event has attracted 25 local teams from Mbarara, KIU, Busitema, Gulu, Bugema and Mukono Christian University among others.
The tournament has also attracted guest teams from Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
The event was last held in 2007.
