Confusion over the leadership of Makerere University is far from over with contestants now petitioning the newly formed tribunal.

The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof. Venensius Baryamureba on Thursday established a tribunal to handle the complaints following Tuesday’s elections marred with reported irregularities.

Six candidates out of those who contested for the guild post have jointly petitioned the tribunal calling for fresh elections as soon as possible.

They have expressed disappointment at the university electoral commission’s declaration of the NRM candidate, John Teira as the winner with all irregularities and malpractices registered during the poll.

Addressing journalists at Makerere, one of the candidates, Simon Kamau speaking on behalf of the others said they will not give up until they get justice.

The other demands include the reinstatement of one of their colleagues Senkubuge Shaban who was disqualified by the EC and disbanding of the Commission.

The other candidates who were present at the press conference included Shaban Senkubuge, Oteran Tayebwa, Snap Adim Dennis, Peter Musangara and Fred Wamange.
