Mulago hospital administration is using volunteers to clean the hospital after the hospital cleaners went on strike citing non-payment of their wages and salaries on monday.

The Public Relations Officer of Mulago Hospital,  Eliphaz Sekabira says over 80 volunteers have been drawn from the universities of Kyambogo, Makerere and Makerere University Business School.

He says other volunteers drawn are Safi Cleaning company workers who did not take part in the strike.

The cleaners of Mulago Hospital laid down their tools declining to do any cleaning until the Management of Mulago Hospital addressed their problems and concerns.

The cleaners say they have not been paid their wages and salaries for the last two months and have no means of survival.
