Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga has warned Ugandan political leaders against promoting violence as the country prepares for the 2011 general elections.

Addressing journalists in Soroti this morning, Odinga said Kenya’s experience in 2007 should a lesson to all those who lose in the elections to take defeat honourably and avoid unnecessary blood shed.

Odinga who is in the country for the home coming of the NRM Vice chairman Eastern region, Mike Mukula, has also challenged African leaders to get actively involved in fighting corruption if the continent is reduce its debt burden.

He said many African countries remain heavily indebted because borrowed funds are usually diverted and misappropriated He says that the leaders should always take the initiative to fight the vice and those implicated must be held accountable regardless of their political might.

Recently Odinga suspended two Kenyan ministers implicated in a corruption scandal. The suspension was however lifted almost immediately by Kenya’s president Mwai Kibaki, sending mixed signals to both Kenyans and the International community about the the two leaders’ attempts to deal with the problem.
