At least 20 families in Kayunga sub-county have been left homeless after a hailstorm destroyed their homes.

The heavy down pour that lasted for about five hours, also destroyed crops like cassava, bananas, maize and potatoes.

The Kayunga sub-county LC 3 chairman, Lugard SSalabwa says the most affected villages are Kisombwa, Kiryamuli, Nakaseeta, Kiwangula and Buyungirizi.

Ssalabwa says famine is imminent in the area because all the crops were destroyed and urges government to provide the affected farmers with planting materials.
