Government will start disbursing about 1.5 billion shillings next week to facilitate different Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies run by Persons with Disabilities.

Parliament recently passed the funds under the supplementary budget, paving way for every district to receive 30 million shillings annually to benefit Persons with Disabilities and furnish them with funds to economically empower themselves.

Addressing the media at Parliament, the Disabilities MP for Central region, Hon Safia Nalule revealed that the Ministry of Finance has released the funds to the Gender Ministry.

Nalule however says that not all districts will benefit from this funding as a few districts will be chosen per region and the rest catered for in the next budget.
