One dead, tens injured in Jinja road accident

At least one person has been confirmed dead and several others injured in an accident that occurred in Kakira along Jinja-Iganga highway.

The police says the accident involved a Trailer track that rammed into a mini-bus registration number UAN 499T that was headed to Jinja from Iganga.

This accident comes just a day after a Bubulo girls bus rammed into a taxi carrying pupils of Victoria Nile primary school at Milo-mbili leaving five of them dead and several others seriously injured.

The district police traffic commander of Jinja, Quinto Angerya says the accident took place at 7.00am today.

Angerya says the accident was due to reckless driving and over speeding.

He has identified the deceased as Patrick Isabirye, a resident of Idudi trading centre in eastern Uganda. The injured persons are admitted at the Jinja Hospital.
