The trial of 30 women activists from the Inter-Party Coalition have flopped today in Kampala.

The trial did not take place due to the absence of the presiding judge and the prosecution side.

The opposition women activists were to appear before Buganda Road Court grade one magistrate, Patrick Wekesa.

Prosecution says these women were arrested on January 18, 2010 when they protested at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission demanding for the resignation of the commission’s chairperson, Eng. Badru Kigundu.

Ingrid Turinawe, a group leader tells journalists that the absence of the magistrate and prosecution is a calculated move to prolong the case so as to frustrate them ahead of 2011 elections.
