Democratic Party has rejected a proposal to join inter-party coalition. The coalition brings four opposition parties: Forum for Democratic Change, Uganda Peoples Congress, Jeema and Conservative Party.

DP is the only major opposition party in Uganda that has declined to join the inter-party coalition.

The members of DP national council meeting at the party head offices in Kampala have said the history of coalitions in Uganda is bad and it doesn’t encourage DP to join the coalition.

Joseph Mujuzi, one of the delegates attending DP meeting going on in Kampala says the enemies of their party want to use the coalition to destroy DP.

The delegates want DP to produce a presidential candidate for 2011 polls.
