Developers who alter building plans face arrest

The Minister of Uganda for Local Government, Adolf Mwesige has said the developers who alter building plans around the country face arrest.

He says the ministry of local government has started transforming urban authorities.

Many developers in Uganda present building plan to the authorities but when they start building they alter the plans.

Mwesige says it is illegal in Uganda now days to build structures that do not have fire escapes, alarms, parking space and fire fighting equipments.

Addressing journalists in Kampala today, Mwesige said government officials who approve altered building plans also face arrest.

He urges developers and all concerned Ugandans at large to respect building plans.

Mwesige says it is illegal to build on road reserves. He also urges owners of commercial buildings in Uganda to pain their buildings.
