Makerere university guild elections have kicked with a very low voter turn out.

The university electoral commission chairman Simon Mwesigye, says they expect more students to come for exercise after their exams this afternoon.

Meanwhile, some of them have emphasized the need for an exercise that is free of political influence.

They say that this will help the student leaders to concentrate on issues affecting them and not necessarily promote individual political party agendas.

Elections are taking place in three halls of residence including; Nsibirwa, Africa and Nkrumah following a high court ruling that backed the tribunal’s decision to have the polls held again.

The contest is between DP’s Shaban Ssenkubuge and NRM’s John Teira
