The Vice President of FDC, Salamu Musumba has lost a Court case seeking to over turn the 2007 Kamuli LCV by-elections.

Salaam who lost this seat to NRM’s Steven Mubiru went to court complaining of irregularities in the election which she blamed for her loss.

Musumba wanted court to cancel the election of Mubiru and compel the electoral commission to organize fresh polls.

During the course of the hearing, the electoral commission blamed the irregularities in the electoral process on high poverty levels and ignorance among residents.

In the ruling read today by the Deputy Registrar of Jinja Court, Muse Musimbi, Justice Vincent Zekurinkirize said Salaam failed to provide substantive evidence to convince court that the elections were marred by irregularities which favored her political rival.

The electoral commission lawyers now want Salam Musumba to pay the costs of the suit.

Salaam who addressed a press conference shortly after the ruling described it as bogus portraying the impunity in Uganda’s judicial system.
