Uganda to generate 3,000 mega watts

President Yoweri Museveni has pledged the government’s commitment to generate 3,000 mega watts of power over the next three years.

The president was today addressing the investors’ round table meeting in Entebbe where the high costs of production emerged as a major hindrance to the growth of the industrial sector in Uganda.

Museveni says the same would be upgraded to 217,000 mega watts in the next ten years.

On the poor road network, Museveni says most of the country’s roads will be constructed without relying on external help.

The President says though donor support is welcome, the government of Uganda will use its own resources to ensure an improved road network.

The poor road network has contributed to high cost of doing business in Uganda.

The round table is hosted every year to give opportunity to the private sector to discuss issues affecting their businesses and design means of improving the business environment.
