Uganda minister advises farmers to form groups

The Uganda state minister for agriculture Bright Rwamirama has appealed to Kabarole district farmers to form groups in order to benefit from Uganda government agricultural modernization programmes.

He says farmers in groups can also easily access bigger markets because they have bigger products to sell to the market and can easily access loans and machines among others from the Uganda government.

Uganda government has invested billions of shillings in the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) to train people in modern agriculture, providing seed capital and setting up modern demonstration farms.

Rwamirama also appealed to Uganda rural farmers to use such farmers groups to mobilize resources and set up agro-processing industries so as to add value their products and get more profits.

The Uganda minister also called for utilization of local markets like schools and prisons which are easily accessible to improve their earnings.
