SPLM appeals to East Africa to support Southern Sudan's cause of becoming an independent state

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement has appealed to the East African community to support the cause of the Southern Sudan people to help Southern Sudan become an independent state.

SPLM's Eng. Paul Akol Kordit

The Chairperson of the SPLM Youth League, Paul Akol Kordit has told Journalists that it is just in the interest of the East African Community that they should support Southern Sudan in its bid to become
an independent a state from the Khartoum Government.

Kordit says the if there is peace in Southern Sudan then there other East African countries mainly Uganda and Kenya will also enjoy peace.

He says that this is because many of the people that buy guns in areas like Karamoja in Uganda and some communities in North Eastern Kenya to distabilise the security of the East African countries buy them from Southern Sudan.

Kordit says however this will not happen if there is stable Southern Sudan Government.

It is believed in Uganda that the disability that has always existed in Southern Sudan played a very key role in perpetuating the Kony insurgency in Northern Uganda that lasted for over 25 years.
