Mathias Mpuga and Merdard Segona vow to fight for democracy, human rights

The MP for Masaka municipality Matthias Mpuga has pledged to concentrate on issues of democracy during his first year in parliament.

Speaking to journalists after taking an oath Mpuga said that issues of democracy and human rights still need a lot of attention in Uganda

He says that with a limited democratic space in the country there can never be development. Mpuga who is the Coordinator of the opposition led walk to work protests says that people should first learn to demand from government what is due to them before the country can think of development.

The MP who is a former minister in Buganda kingdom also notes that he wants parliament to put government on pressure to start serving the people than the people serving the government.

Busiro east MP Medard Lubega Segoona also a former minister in Buganda Kingdom says that he is going to make sure that he fights for the rights of the people. Segona says that he is going to use all means to make sure that parliament defends the people against security organs who have become hostile to the public.
