President Yoweri Museveni warns walk to work protesters

President Yoweri Museveni has warned Action for Change activists against their planned resumption of walk to work protests which he says are aimed at disruption senior four and senior six exams which are set to begin on Monday October 17th.

This follows an announcement by A4C coordinator Mathias Mpuga that they are resuming their wal to work protests against what he termed biting economic times.

But Museveni told journalists at a press conference on Sunday that those protesting against the economic situation are saboteurs and are behind the worsening economic times.

He says politicians who project a bad image of the country and organize protesters and media houses who promote their activities are the reason behind worsening economic times.

At the same press conference, Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka and Bank of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Mutebile assured Ugandans that Uganda’s economy is doing well on most indicators, with the bad effects like inflation and high prices resulting from other foreign struggling economies where Uganda mostly imports from.

Museveni said his NRM government is fully in charge and will starting Monday chair meetings of NRM leaders in Kyankwanzi to discuss the way forward on the economy and pressing political issues.
