Conjoined twins successfully operated on in Egypt

Mulago hospital personnel have revealed that the conjoined twins that were successfully separated on Saturday in Cairo are making remarkable progress.

Timothy and Trevor born in the Western district of Kabale five months ago underwent an 8 hour operation carried out by a team of doctors in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

The deputy director Mulago hospital Dr. Doreen Birabwa says the twins are still in the intensive care Unit and are recovering steadily.

Dr. Birabwa adds that the twins who are in hospital are safe from the ongoing violent protests.

She says they have started feeding and trying to live independently.

She has also lauded the Egyptian government and Mulago hospital management for all the support accorded to the team of doctors that is handling the twins.

The parents and the twins were flown out to Cairo last weekend together with Dr John Sekabira of Mulago hospital.
