Nyakaana to retire from Uganda politics

Kampala Central division chairman, Godfrey Nyakaana is preparing to quit politics come 2016 general elections. A source in Uganda’s ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has told us that Nyakaana has informed the party leadership that he wants to quit politics such that he concentrates on his businesses.

Nyakaana has ruled Kampala Central division as division chairperson for the last six years. Many people in Kampala say that they have been supporting Nyakaana because of his pro people policies. It is said that Nyakaana has already requested NRM to prepare a person who will replace him. When contacted, Nyakaana said that he has ruled Kampala Central for two terms now and he thinks it is wise to vacate the post in favour of other people to takeover.

He however says that he is still willing to serve the country in any other capacity if the ruling party decides to use him in another capacity.
