Gen. Jeje Odong dismisses Museveni army land takeover rumours

The state minister for defense Gen. Jeje Odong has been tasked by MPs on defense and internal affairs committee to explain circumstances under which President Museveni acquired the Kisozi land in sembabule district.

The general, who was accompanied by a host of officers including Brig. Silver Kayemba, came under fire by the committee chaired by Milton Muwuma who demanded to know why president Museveni allegedly snatched UPDF land and changed it into his private land where he even put up a farm and a home.

Gen. Odong defended the president land that it was acquired in right way but he clarified that the UPDF land is just next to that of the president and told the mps not to confuse the pieces of land.

MPs asked Odong to bring evidence regarding ownership of the Kisozi land to find out the real owners of the Kisozi land.

The member of parliament for Makindye west Hussein Kyanjo alleged that there are reports that land belonged to UPDF but its ownership was changed to Museveni

The minister however says that there are two pieces of land neighboring each other; a matter which he says confuses some members of the public.

Gen. Jeje odongo had appeared before the defence committee to explain a number of issues related to acquisition of land by the UPDF in various places including Entebbe, Masindi, Bulambuli among others.

The committee chaired by the member of parliament for Kigulu county in Iganga district Milton Muwuma discovered that unlike in the deal of Lugazi university land where the defense ministry followed the laid down procurement rules, land deals in other areas did not follow the law.
Jeje Odongo also denied claims that the ministry of Defence use force to acquire most of the land for the ministry of Defense.
