Uganda to build longest multi-billion dollar railway network

The government of Uganda is to build the longest multi-billion dollar railway network on the African continent. It is going to be the first of its kind in Africa. The multi-billion dollar railway network is expected to serve the interests of Tanzania, Southern Sudan Burundi and the republic of Rwanda.

The construction work is to commence in 2014 and it is expected to take three years and cost $4.7 billion. Burundi, Southern Sudan, Burundi and Rwanda are expected to contribute positively towards the construction of the multi-billion dollar railway network.

The construction of the multi-billion dollar railway network will run alongside the $3 billion Tanga-Arusha-Musoma-Kampala railway line that is expected to be completed in 2015 if all factors remain constant.

The multi-billion dollar railway network will be done by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation. The multi-billion dollar railway network will be the main gateway of Mwambani Port in Tanga, Musoma dock and Port Bell in Uganda.

The feasibility study would be done in April this year while the construction of the railway line is expected to be completed in 2015.
