Museveni threatens to punish media houses for supporting Muslims

President Museveni has threatened to deal with media houses that fan and incite violence between the two rivaling Muslim factions inUganda.

The two rivaling Muslim factions are the Kibuli Mosque based faction headed by Sheikh Zubair Kayongo and the Old Kampala Muslim leadership led by the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje.

Museveni says that fanning and inciting violence between the two wrangling Muslim factions could degenerate into bloodshed. So the head of state warns media houses and individual journalists that continue to incite violence among the Muslim groups saying that such media houses risk punitive action from his government.

Museveni, according to sources, says that two newspapers in Uganda, The Red Pepper and The Daily Monitor, are deliberately exaggerating the wrangles among Muslim factions and inciting Muslims to go for war.
