Pastor grabs microphone from Col. Kiiza Besigye

It looks Uganda’s main opposition leader Col. Kiiza Besigye is no longer a darling of the religious leaders and some people in Busoga Sub Region.

The reverend of an Anglican church (Church of Uganda) in Busoga sub region, only identified as Naluswa did something that disorganized Col. Kiiza Besigye.

Besigye had gone to Busoga yesterday to attend a graduation ceremony of an FDC activist in Busoga, Simon Muyanga Lutaaya. Many people from both NRM and opposition were at the graduation ceremony and they were given opportunity to speak.

When the time for Col. Kiiza Besigye came to address the people, the president of Jeema (Justice Forum) Hajji Asuman Basalirwa gave him a microphone.  But before Besigye could greet the people, Reverend Naluswa stood up and grabbed a microphone from him. The reverend ‘shouted’ that ‘I have orders from statehouse not to allow Besigye to speak at this function.’

Besigye accepted and let the reverend to take away the microphone. The now furious Besigye went directly to Muyanga Lutaaya who was at this time also puzzled and gave him his graduation gift. Besigye afterwards jumped into his car and drove off. However the drama remained behind. The people who were serving food were FDC cadres. So they refused to give the reverend food and the reverend went away grumbling!
