Ugandans die of measles, Malaria

Our reporters visited Busoga Region/Busoga kingdom today and found out that the hospitals in Bugiri and Iganga districts were in a very miserable state. Our reporter Maureen Nakyanzi reports that for example in Bugiri a patient finds the hospital in a more ill state than the sick people who go to it to get health care services.

She says that they discovered that the mothers in Busoga are on a time bomb of contracting diseases as most of their hospitals were dirty and many toilet facilities were blocked.

For example in Iganga district, the labour theatre leaks and many times the medical personnel report late at work. The major diseases that kill the children of the people of Busoga are mainly measles and malaria.

Also according to the people we interviewed in Busoga, many families don’t have mosquito nets meaning that after being treated of measles they indeed get to be admitted for malaria so the cycle run on and on.

Also at Iganga hospital, we discovered that much of the hospital land had been grabbed by some people claiming to have big government connections.
