Kabaka congratulates new Church of Uganda archbishop

 

The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has congratulated Rev. Stanly Ntagali upon being elected the new archbishop of the Church of Uganda. Rev. Ntagali replaced Henry Luke Orombi on Friday after being elected into office by the House of Bishops, comprising leaders of the 34 dioceses in the country.

Kabaka Mutebi described Rev. Ntagali as a man he knows to be full of wisdom, and possessed by good character. The Kabaka says that Buganda is willing to work closely with Rev. Ntagali. The Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom has gone on record to become the first traditional leader within and outside Uganda to congratulate Rev. Ntagali upon being elected the archbishop.

Rev. Ntagali is now the 8th person to be elected the archbishop of the Church of Uganda. Other former archbishops of the church of Uganda are Leslie Brown, Erica Sabiti, Janani Luwum, Silvanus Wani, Yona Okoth, Livingstone Mpalanyi-Nkoyoyo and Henry Luke Orombi. Ntagali, a former vicar, diocesan secretary and archdeacon and a missionary of the church of Uganda was born in 1955 in Kigezi.
