MP Mohammad Nsereko quits NRM

It has been confirmed that soon Kampala Central MP Mohammad Nsereko is quitting NRM in favour of opposition. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is the ruling political party in Uganda.

In order to gain political capital and gain political mileage, the MP for Kampala central Mohammad Nsereko is also being advised to resign his political seat and seek reelection on either independent ticket or the Democratic Party ticket.

Under Ugandan laws someone automatically loses his or her seat in parliament the moment s/he shifts political beliefs.

That person will then go into a by-election as an independent or as a candidate of a given political party or organization.

For the case of Nsereko, the Democratic Party leadership has promised him full support in case he resigns his post.
