UPDF in clean up exercise ahead of Tarehe Sita day

Uganda Peoples Defense Forces officers operating in the Rwenzori region have today cleaned a number of urban centers and health facilities ahead of the Tarehe sita celebrations set for tomorrow.

The 2nd Division Puplic Relations Officer Lt. Ninsiima Rwemizuma said that the army men and women cleaned the towns and health centers to re-affirm their commitment to work with the civilians of Uganda from whom they were recruited to the force.

According to Lt. Ninsiima, the UPDF officers cleaned Bwera Hospital and Mpondwe market in Mpondwe-Lubiriha town council, Kasese Municipal Health center IV, Hima Health Center III and Hima town in Kasese district.

Mpondwe market has been chocking with garbage and the traders were already planning to demonstrate against the reluctance of the Mpondwe-Lubiriha town council authorities to clean it.

In Kabarole district, they cleaned Buhinga and Kabarole hospitals. In Bundibugyo, the soldiers combined with police officers cleaned Bundibugyo market, Nyahuka Health Center IV, Nyahuka town and Butama Trading center.

Lt. Ninsiima said that the cleaning exercise was also extended to Kanungu, Kihihi and Mbarara towns.

He said that the army in all places was happy for the community members joining the cleanliness and urged them to continue doing so on other occasions.

Lt. Ninsiima added that the cleaning activities by the army are a symbol to show that they are pro-people.
