Museveni orders URA to clear Pioneer Bus

President Museveni has reportedly directed the managing Director of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) to clear the management of Pioneer Easy Bus Company so that it resumes its operations.

Sources in URA told our reporter that president Museveni in a secret meeting with the URA officials last week told the Commissioner General of URA, Allen Kagina that she errored when she suspended Pioneer Easy operations over 8 billion shillings tax dispute without first informing the office of the presidency.

The president reportedly told Kagina that Pioneer Bus Company is a friendly business company to the survival of URA and it should be helped to resume operation.

Ms Kagina says URA will free the services of Pioneer Bus because it doesn’t want to inconvenience the public. Kagina says that Pioneer Easy bus management has for more than a year been running URA in circles over outstanding taxes, breaching numerous memorandums of understanding in the process with some of its managers asserting that the company’s operations are above URA.
