Device initiatives to discover new knowledge in support of business development – Prime Minister tells academia

Prime minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has urged the academia to device powerful initiatives to discover new knowledge to support business development in the region. While as trade has existed for ages, most people still use traditional methods which are not sustainable, bear less profits, and require modification.

According to the Prime Minister, the global challenge of unemployment can be addressed by the academia through business innovations to grow small and medium enterprises through research. This he said while officiating at the ongoing 20th Makerere University business school (MUBS) Nakawa annual International Management Conference under the theme “Harnessing opportunities for business development.”

During the conference, MUBS principal Prof. Waswa Balunywa reported to the Prime Minister that he is disappointed over Government failure to grant MUBS a university status which they have for long  asked for and met the requirements.
