Kalungu West MP in Kalungu district Joseph Gonzaga Sewungu says that government should not lie about the availability of food when there is evidence  that people are dying of hunger in the country. Bukomansimbi county MP Degracious Kiyingi says people should be reminded to plant enough food during this rainy season so that there is enough food.

The chairperson of the parliamentary Agriculture committee, Mathias Kasamba, calls on government to put in place mechanism to enhance food production. He said that there should be minimization of food wastage and having provision of food from some of the countries with food in excess.

This year’s World Food Day celebrations  was under the theme “Social protection and agriculture; breaking the cycle of rural poverty’’.
