As political parties are fine-tuning their campaign strategies for the forthcoming 2016 general elections, the NRM 2016 presidential flag bearer Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has warned his party members against what he calls the campaigns of merely shouting and using threats. According to Museveni, campaigns should be strategically done by simply convincing people about the NRM ideology as opposed to moving around shouting NRM and its slogans.

He has hence advised his party members to focus the NRM mobilization targeting villages, schools/ institutions and workplaces where most people spend much of their daily time. This while speaking to delegates at the on-going NRM Namboole delegate’s conference last night.

President Museveni who was also endorsed yesterday as chairman of the ruling party NRM attributes the chaos manifested in the recent NRM party primaries to laxity of the electoral laws and ignorance of the law among some NRM Members. The NRM national chairman is cautioning top party officers against dipping their heads into the final decisions of the party saying this has continued to cause divisions in the party.

According to Museveni, many top party officials tend to decide for the party when it comes to contentious and important issues in the party which is against the party laws. He mentions the chaos that engulfed the just concluded party primaries where many top party officials vehemently took sides and made dangerous decisions that seem to cost the party and brand it a non-democratic party and on this note he calls for total democracy in all affairs of the party.

However in fear of dividing the party in eastern Uganda due to many powerful candidates vying for the post of vice chairperson for eastern, the president engaged all the contestants to leave the post for one person which saw Capt. MIKE Mukula emerging as unopposed.

In related news Youth leaders from central Buganda are disagreeing with the endorsement of the new region’s vice chairperson, Haji. Abdul Naduli who has been contesting with Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda and Haji. Muyanja Mbabali, among others and has been endorsed as the sole winner on grounds that the rest have been made by the national chairperson of the party, YK.M7 to give a green light to Naduli. The youth leaders who were visibly unhappy with the outcomes of the meeting between the contestants and the chairperson pin the national chairperson for forcing Haji on them

Muyanja Mbabali and the rest were asked to step aside for Naduli to emerge as the new vice chairperson for central and Buganda region.

The youth added that Naduli has no mobilization capacity the way Mbabali does as sighting a good example that they have lost the Luwero woman seat in parliament under the mobilization of Naduli with the recent being his loss in the concluded party primaries.

The youth leaders cautioned that if nothing is done they are to cross over to the former party’s secretary general’s camp.
