EC should clean up the national register again to delete non Ugandans – Fungaroo

Voters' Register

EC Chairman Kiggundu

Obongi county  MP Hassan Kaps Fungaroo says the Electoral Commission should again clean up the national register to delete non Ugandans. Fungaroo who is also shadow minister for Defence and internal affairs, there is evidence of existence of names of Tanzanians of Rwandese origin in areas of West Nile especially Obongi.
Fungaroo says Obongi residents have interacted with some of those Tanzanians whose names are on the National voters’ register and have confirmed they are some of the Rwandese the government of Tanzania evicted last year.
The MP told Parliament that unless the electoral commission does fresh cleanup of the national voters’ register, non Ugandans will negatively affect the outcome of the 2016 general elections.
He wants use of voter cards and not national identity cards for voting, on grounds that the national IDs have been issued to non Ugandans making them legible voters which is against the electoral laws of Uganda.
