Europe gets it’s first underwater Art Museum

Swimming in it’s own right is a great exercise and an amazing pastime that many embrace and enjoy. However, British artist Jason deCaires Taylor has managed to make that experience even better by incorporating this amazing activity with the visual delight of art.

Museo Atlantico, which means The Atlantic Museum, has become the first ever underwater art museum in Europe and the Atlantic ocean. With breathtaking sculptures and imagery, this museum is a must visit for all art lovers and will be sure to cause many to pick interest in diving, if only to experience this artwork.

Taylor’s art is constructed to be assimilated by the ocean and transformed from inert objects into living breathing coral reefs, portraying human intervention as both positive and life-encouraging. He is quoted to have said

“The ocean is the most incredible exhibition space an artist could ever wish for. You have amazing lighting effects changing by the hour, explosions of sand covering the sculptures in a cloud of mystery, a unique timeless quality and the procession of inquisitive visitors, each lending their own special touch to the site.”

The museum will be open for public viewing on 25th February 2016. Below are  some pictures of the art in the Museum.
