The Member of Parliament for Buikwe district, Judith Babirye calls for protection of artists in the music  industry through implementation of the copy rights law in a bid for this industry to employ more youth.
She says that one musician when his or her songs are protected by the law can afford to give about 20 youth jobs.
She believes that the music industry has not been given maximum protection as in regard to protection of patent rights yet it should have been one of the potential source of government revenue.

She says that musicians in Uganda are making songs but they don’t benefit them since their music is duplicated and sold and the sales do not go to the song owner.
She blames police for not carrying out much protection of the musician songs when they report the people duplicating their songs.
Babirye also wants government to put in place measures and guideline to appreciates local content so as Ugandans consume more local music than foreign content.
