Kampala Ssese Rotary Club donates 30 million shillings to finance Uganda Heart Institute

Kampala Ssese Rotary Club has donated 30 million shillings to the Uganda Heart Institute to finance the operation of five children with heart disease.

The funds were on Wednesday (November 02, 2016) handed over the money to the Heart Institute’s Director, Dr.John Omagino, by the President of Kampala Ssese Rotary Club President, Hellen Kawesa, at Mulago hospital.

Dr. Omagino, said that the Heart Institute needs more financial support from private companies and individuals since government funding can only cater for the operation of 40 children per year yet the number of children with heart problem is growing by day.
He said that if the institute gets financial support from private sector about 100 to 200 children can be operated against heart disease since 8000 children require heart surgery every year.
He said that about 2000 children go to Uganda heart institute for heart problem screening yet 1.6 million people in Uganda born with heart problem and he encouraged individuals to invest in establishing units that helps in heart surgery.

Kawesa said that Ssese Rotary Club will donate towards the heart surgery of five children every year.
