Four companies dealing in solar energy have been summoned to appear before Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) this week on Tuesday to answer queries in the auditor general’s report for misuse of funds from the World Bank.

According to the committee, the auditor’s report 2014/15 mentioned Power and Communication, Naco, Solar sense Uganda and Victron as companies that misused World Bank grant of 85,000 dollars that was given to these companies through Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The Committee Chaired by Bugwere County MP, Abdu Katuntu also noted that  there was misuse and malpractice in awarding of the contracts by REA which failed the project.

The committee is thus calling for the black listing of these four companies.

The project was to benefit rural area people by receiving free solar energy panels to connect on their houses which they say never happened.
