A section of Karamojong Members of Parliament have said they are  angered over what they say is  government’s  negligence to save the people who severely hit by food shortage in most parts of the Karamoja region.
This  they say is a fault of the ministry of disaster preparedness which is under the Office of the Prime Minister which they accuse of diverting food to Isingiro district yet Karamoja leaders requested  for food relief before Isingiro.

The Woman Member of Parliament for Nakapiripit district, Esther Anyapun, says that government promised to give food to Karamoja sub region but that they have been waiting in vain.

“We were the first people to request for relief food before drought hit Isingiro yet we have never recieved any grain from government. Why would the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness respond to an area which has just been hit yet we the Karamojongs have waited for a long time without any response. This is very unfair to our people,” Anyapun lamented while speaking to Journalists at Parliament.
