MPs under Bunyoro Parliamentary caucus have announced a one week retreat in their region where they are to mobilize the area communities to engage themselves in active agriculture rather than sitting relaxed as they wait for the oil extractions.

In a press conference held at parliament last week, the chairperson of the caucus who is also the MP for Buyaga West, Barnabus Tinkasimire, noted that 80% of the land in this region is still virgin and idle and that because of this, there is urgent need for hard working farmers to put it to use.

He says this can be achieved through sensitizing and mobilizing the masses to participate in government agricultural program of operation wealth creation as this will save the region from the hunger crisis that has hit other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the MPs are wondering what the Minister of Bunyoro has contributed to their region saying that the retreat that kicks off soon will be a big opportunity for the MPs to as well evaluate government on infrastructures in the region including schools, hospitals and on a number of roads that have for years been commissioned and have not kicked off as yet.

He says they will have to present to parliament their findings on government programs in their region and it will be upon government to account.
