Education ministry asks schools to provide girls with pads

The ministry of education has demanded that schools  make provisional emergency sanitary towels to girls during school time.

This was made by the Research and Advocacy officer at Gender Unit in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Ms. Rosette Nanyanzi .

She said that schools should give emergency pads to girls as parents also take up this role.

She said that as government they are making some interventions for girls to have sanitary towels but it is not sustainable for all girls to get pads  .

The president had during his presidential campaigns in 2016 promised Pupils and students free sanitary towels, exercise books and computers

The president promised to give out  computers schools so that “children learn modern knowledge and give out sanitary towels to girls in schools so as they do not  drop out of schools.”
