The ministry of agriculture has warned of another possible imminent fall army worm outbreak.
The warning has been given by senior agricultural inspector in the ministry of Agriculture Katunguka David Rukasakare during an inception workshop for a project on enhancing the country’s capacity for management of the pest.
Giving an update on the status of the disease in the country, Katunguka said a national surveillance conducted at the end of last year indicated that while severity of the pest had declined in the second season, the worm still exists
He however said government is committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure the pest is eradicated.
The outbreak in the first season of last year left several farmers counting losses.
