MPs worried about refugee activities in the country

Members of parliament on the Presidential Affairs Committee have expressed serious fears over the implications of the uncontrolled operations of refugees while in the country.

While appearing before the committee the  Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hillary Onek,the  committee members  noted that the continued influx of refugees into the country could have serious effects on the country especially in the absence of a policy on Refugees.

Nyabushozi County MP Col Fred Mwesigye pointed out that some of these refugees can be enemies of the state that can pose a serious threat on National security.

The minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees Hillary Onek expressed the need for timely funding for effective management of the increasing number of refugees coming in to the country.

Earlier on the Committee chairperson Jessica Ababiku has expressed dissatisfaction with what she called a continued song of having a draft policy on refugees which is facilitates the effective implementation of the law on refugees.
